BrisScience: Bringing quantum to life

April 7 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Bris Science

Quantum technologies, like quantum computers and sensors, allow us to see things that are otherwise invisible and to perform computations that would otherwise be impossible.

This promises a deep transformation of the life sciences. Advances in microscopy have transformed society, from the discovery of cells, to the origins of diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis. Computing advances have been even more transformational, changing almost every aspect of how we live our lives. Quantum technologies promise the next revolution.

Join us at our next BrisScience, as UQ’s Professor Warwick Bowen explores quantum biotechnology and what it may hold for our future.

Can’t join us in person?

If you can’t make it to the State Library of Queensland, please join us online to watch the live stream. Register for the online event by selecting a live stream ticket.

Meet the presenter:

Professor Warwick Bowen works to develop new quantum and precision measurement technologies. He works with industry to apply them in fields ranging from biomedicine to aerospace, resources, and energy. He is Director of the Australian Centre of Excellence in Quantum Biotechnology, and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Physics. He has made important contributions to the application of quantum light in biological microscopy and to the unlabelled detection of single proteins.
